Soundless Wind Chime is a sophisticatedly fashioned love story between Ricky and Pascal. In big city Hong Kong, Ricky—a Beijing-born Chinese immigrant—works as a fast food delivery boy and Pascal—a Swiss rebel—is a petty thief who enjoys the advantages of his European status in postcolonial Asia. Lust and loneliness draw the two together, but before their relationship finds its footing Pascal passes away in an accident. Travelling from Hong Kong to Switzerland to help heal his grieving heart, Ricky meets Ueli, a man who looks hauntingly identical to Pascal and he is once again drawn in. Told through a series of flashbacks and fragments, this poetic drama avows that love is as much about memory as it is present-day reality. Director Kit Hung spent five years making Soundless Wind Chime and his painstaking efforts are evident in the rich atmospheric details, from the beautiful musical score to breathtaking location shots.
